OVERVIEW

Speech and Drama is designed to develop interest in the English Language while at the same time introducing them to the creative arts through Literature, Drama, Social Studies, Science and the use of imagination. The course will assist children in physical coordination, agility, and flexibility, as well as explore rhythm, space, and self-expression. This will in turn help to improve the child’s standard in communication through the spoken word. It also fosters an appreciation of literature and drama, that allows the child to unlock his/her imagination, refine technical artistry and develop effective communication skills.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To PROMOTE a child’s confidence by developing the child’s speaking skills.

To SHARE poems with child and to develop recital skills.

To ENCOURAGE each child to become a unique individual helping him/her master the skills necessary to communicate creatively and imaginatively in a competitive world.

To BUILD cooperative skills and a sense of belonging and contributing to a group.

To DEVELOP & STIMULATE high concentration, problem solving and disciplinary proficiencies.

To EXPLORE favourite themes & topics including community workers, animals, poetry, talk tales, rainforests, multicultural celebrations, and more.

To ACQUIRE new vocabulary, shapes, and numbers and build skills in counting, one to one correspondence, sequencing, patterning, and more.

To APPRECIATE the English Language as a necessity for survival.

Our English Speech and Drama program leads to an accreditation by The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). LAMDA is a reputable institution and is renowned in Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Africa and the United States.

Held once a year, the LAMDA certification is a prestigious award for students who have a passion for drama, spoken English and reading. It provides a comprehensive gauge on the standards of your child. The LAMDA examination offers the students a chance to develop their communication, dramatic and creative skills.
